Reproductive Loss Therapy
Healing After Reproductive Loss
Reproductive loss can include miscarriage, stillbirth, failed adoption, failed surrogacy, or unsuccessful assisted reproduction. Each experience is unique and all are life-altering for those who go through them.

What Reproductive Loss Can Feel Like
Many people are surprised by how deeply reproductive loss affects mental and emotional wellbeing. The pain can be quiet and invisible to others, yet completely overwhelming on the inside. You may be moving through waves of sadness, anger, fear, confusion, or numbness. You may feel disconnected from yourself, your partner, or the life you expected to have by now.
You may also be navigating complicated medical decisions in the aftermath of loss, trying to think clearly and plan for the future while still in the thick of grief. That is an enormous thing to carry.
And underneath all of it, there may be grief for the pregnancy you had, the baby you imagined, or the future you once pictured so clearly. The loneliness of loss, the pressure to move on, and the fear of being misunderstood can add yet another layer of pain to an already heavy experience.
The Impact on Mental Health
Reproductive loss can have a significant and lasting impact on mental health and that impact deserves to be taken seriously.
For some, loss leads to depression — hopelessness, loss of interest in daily life, deep fatigue, or a persistent sense of emptiness. Others experience intense anxiety: fear of trying again, panic about the future, or a constant sense of being on edge. Some develop fertility-related PTSD, marked by intrusive memories, medical trauma, avoidance, and hypervigilance that makes it hard to feel safe again.
These are real, recognized responses to a real and significant loss. They are not signs of weakness, and they are treatable.
